Emile E. Watson-Benjamine Fine Administration Building - Lakeland, Florida Part One

Florida Southern College - Completed in 1948, these are my favorite buildings on the Florida Southern campus.  Every step and every turn reveal new shapes and intriguing vistas.  The transitions from confined to open spaces, the integration of the esplanades and the oasis of the secluded courtyard with pool and fountain offer a soothing respite from the hectic world (and the Water Dome is right next door).

View from down the steps from the Water Dome.

Similar shot but with the Water Dome on right.

Esplanade leading in from the Buckner Building (originally the E.T Roux Library).

  1. Love it! I'm going to be in Lakeland/Winter Park for Sun N' Fun next month and I cannot wait to check out the FSC campus.

  2. Be sure to stop into the Child of the Sun Visitors Center in the original E.T. Roux Library/Thad Buckner Building to pick up a map of the campus. They also have some construction photos on display and some general FLW merchandise for sale.
