Johnson Street - This series of commercial structures sits on Johnson Street in Temple, Georgia. They were in varied states of decay. The building on the far right was the most interesting as it was slowly being reclaimed by nature. The roof was mostly gone and the vegetation was taking over the interior of the building.

Florida Citrus Showcase - Winter Haven, Florida
100 Cypress Gardens Boulevard SW - More commonly called the Orange Dome (for obvious reasons), the 1961 Florida Citrus Showcase building is destined for the wrecking ball. For years the dome and surrounding land was home of the Citrus Festival but that's long gone and the building sees little use and is not really adaptable for any other purposes. For a number of years the dome was repainted as a baseball since spring training for a couple of teams took place at the stadium behind the dome. The News Chief had a recent article on the redevelopment of this property.

Prosecuting Attorney - Greenfield Indiana
27 American Legion Place - Another beautiful building that could stand in very nicely for a haunted house looming on the hill. Something about the cupola seems odd to me, like that it somehow doesn't match. It doesn't seem as detailed as other parts of the building. Perhaps it was replaced at some point.

Commercial - Winter Haven, Florida
3rd Street SW - This building has some nice deco elements that I never noticed until recently. Perhaps it didn't always look this way. It seems odd to me that probably walked or drove past it a thousand times and never noticed.

Office and Commercial Building - Winter Haven, Florida
314 West Central Avenue - A nice office and commercial structure possibly dating from 1930. My friends and I were loaned an office here for the day back in the early 90's to do some filming for a project. Being the tallest building on the block, the offices get a lot of really good light.

Carnegie Library - Eatonton, Ga
309 North Madison Avenue - Eatonton's Carnegie Library retains its original building with additions located behind.

Boy Scouts Lodge - Winter Haven, Florida
708 7th Street NW - I spent plenty of time in this building as a kid. As I recall it is just as appropriately rustic on the interior as it is outside.

Commercial - Columbus, Indiana
548 Washington Street - A well preserved building in a town known as an architectural mecca. Unfortunately we got there pretty late in the day and I had no idea how many wonderful buildings there were right up to modern structures by famous architects so I didn't get to do very much. I guess that means I'll have to make a return trip someday.

Norwood Bowl - Alexandria, Indiana
121 Grant Street - As you can tell by the pictures, the dramatic entrance to this building is what caused me to swerve off the road.

Old Jailhouse Museum - Albion, Indiana
West Main Street - Much like the jailhouse post from a couple of days ago, it's hard to believe that a structure this beautiful was erected for the purpose of housing criminals.

Whitley County Jail - Columbia City, Indiana
101 West Market Street - Set up as a haunted house for Halloween when I took these pictures this last week. For more information on this 1875 structure check this out.

Commercial - Sonora, Kentucky
Main Street - This building doesn't actually front on Main Street. The side of the building pictured fronts on an alley running behing the Main Street buildings. The opposite side of this structure fronts on the railroad tracks and seemed to have a similar facade.
