West Orange Country Club Gate - Winter Garden, Florida

Avalon Road - Located just south of the Florida Turnpike on Avalon Road.  I couldn't really find any information on this gate.  There is a current West Orange Country Club a few miles away that opened in the 60's but apparently has no relation to this location.  The gate looks to date from possibly the 20's.

    It was built by the Mather-Smiths of oakland, in the 1920s. They found the local club too stuffy... so they built their own! Lots of oakland / Winter Garden / Tildenville photos on my various blog posts... http://jimmyboi2.wordpress.com
