Houses - Kissimmee, Florida

Orange Boulevard and Philip Street - A few houses with concrete block screens.

These house in these first two pics is circa 1961.

The yellow house is circa 1965.

This one is circa 1957.  If I had to guess I would say that this garage was originally a carport.

  2. That first house is a great Florida idiom on the "Atomic Ranch" style. (There's now a periodical by that name, on that subject--killer pics!)

    The non-staggered blocks are a signature Mid-Mod detail--sweet.

Visually screen that rooftop A/C equipment, pick a much lighter, more tropical color for the trim, garage door, and brise soleil (breeze blocks), get a once over from a landscape architect, and your home value will soar!

    1. We did it! We have now painted the house and used tropical coloring! We are so excited. Now on to the landscaping!

  3. Love "Atomic Ranch". One of the best mags out there. Yes, with minimal input that first house could be even more fantastic.

  4. Update. We've taken Fixizin's advice. Had a tree that naturally grew up to cover the A/C equipment and painted in much brighter mid-century color palette. Still need to work on the landscaping. 5. If the picture link doesn't come out, I'd be happy to send the photo directly to Brian (or you'd be welcome to come photograph it again).
