House - Winter Haven, Florida
Lake Howard Drive - While not always painted these colors, this 1955 beauty has been one of my favorite Winter Haven homes ever since I was a kid.

Grace Lutheran Church - Winter Haven, Florida
327 Avenue C SE - At a glance it might just look like a big brick cube but there are wonderful elements at play here from the soaring crosses to the wonderfully modern a-shaped beams at the entrance and let's not forget those great screens.

House - Winter Haven, Florida
14th Street NW - This 1928 home was looking for some love when I took this photo back in October of 2010.

House - Winter Haven, Florida
Avenue C SW - The cool roofline is the first feature one notices about this house but I also find it interesting how the carport comes off the side of the house at an angle.

Sands Residence - Winter Haven, Florida
Lake Otis Road - One of many houses designed by Gene Leedy in Winter Haven. This one is from 1965. This shows many of the typical traits found in his work including precast concrete and courtyards.

Florida Citrus Showcase (The End) - Winter Haven, Florida
100 Cypress Gardens Boulevard SW - Love it or hate it, a Winter Haven landmark is finally gone. After decades of talk, the Orange Dome has finally been demolished. The pictures below are from about 2PM on Monday. Link back to my previous post to see some pictures pre-demolition. Also check out a YouTube video below of the demolition shot by Dr. Paul Bearer, II.
Just a pile of rubble is all that's left.

House - Winter Haven, Florida
Lake Howard Drive - I haven't been in this house since I was six or seven and for some reason I always found it very creepy back then. Now, of course, I can admire the beauty of the structure but if I went inside I might still find it creepy.

Pierre's Kiddieland - Winter Haven, Florida
225 Avenue B NW - Formerly this building housed the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services but it began life as a grocery store. Fun!

House - Winter Haven, Florida
Lake Howard Drive - I've always loved this great 1958 mid-century modern house as it is located near where my grandparents used to live and I saw it all the time.
One of the great features of the house is the giant window here on the front.

Law Firm - Winter Haven, Florida
786 Avenue C SW - Once a private residence, this structure sits just west of Lake Howard and the lake is barely visible through the trees and pillars of the right side of the porch.
