Nebraska State Capitol - Lincoln Nebraska

1445 K Street - Designed by Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue and built between 1922 and 1932.  This will be the first of several posts with photos of this amazing building.  In total I took 186 pictures of the building when I visited it back in July.  I knew from researching that it would be impressive but it far surpassed any expectations I had.  There are quided tours which take you into rooms otherwise off limits.  But one of the coolest things about visiting the Nebraska state capitol was the ability to freely roam the halls and explore taking as much time as one wished.  I spent a total of two hours in the capitol and probably would have spent longer but the group I was with was tired and wanted to leave.

View from Goodhue Boulevard looking north to the Capitol.

Entrance to the capitol.  Next post we'll take a peak inside the door.

  1. That is impressive! I like the pillasters (if that's an accurate way to describe them) of the ancient lawmakers, complete with cuneiform?, hieroglyphics, etc. And I'm amazed by how clean they keep the building. Also, the shrubbery in the foreground of the ninth photo is really pretty.
