891 South James Road - A nice little mid-century office building built in 1959.

Kentucky Fried Chicken - Marietta, Georgia

12 Cobb Parkway NE - Caught sight of this while driving around and had to stop. It's super fun. The beak opens and closes and the googly eyes spin around. The rest of the building was typical KFC boring but the tower was great.

McNamara Pontiac - Orlando, Florida

1010 West Colonial Drive - I've always loved this sign. This dealership is now closed and it's only a matter of time before the sign disappears. It was really cool at night too.

Toledo And Ohio Central Railroad Station - Columbus, Ohio

379 West Broad Street - From the on site Ohio Historical Marker:

The only remaining Columbus railroad station. The Toledo & Ohio Central (T&OC) Railroad Station was constructed in 1895 and was the departure point for William McKinley when he left for Washington D.C. to be sworn in as president. Designed by noted Columbus architects Joseph Warren Yost & Frank L. Packard, the pagoda style roof and tower have become Columbus icons. By 1900, the T&OC was purchased by rival Hocking Valley Railroad and in 1911 the tracks were elevated above Broad Street. Later the New York Central Railroad gained control and used the station until 1930 when passenger service was transferred to Union Station in Columbus. Restored after the 1913 Flood and major fires in 1910 and 1975, the station was headquarters for the Central Ohio Volunteers of America from 1930 to 2003. The building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Fox Westwood Village Theatre - Los Angeles, California

961 Broxton Avenue - The Fox Westwood Village Theatre opened in 1931 and was designed by Percy Park Lewis. It is located in the charming Westwood Village area of Los Angeles next to UCLA. The theater is still open and is currently run by the Mann Theatres chain. The theatre shines like a beacon luring you down the street. I happened across it by chance as I was driving down Wilshire Boulevard. I caught a glimpse of the tower several blocks away and instantly recognized it from pictures I had seen. Of course, I had to turn around and go back.

Polk Hotel, Haines City, Florida

800-810 Hinson Avenue - The Polk Hotel (also called the Palm Crest Hotel) was built in 1925. The structure was designed by Stevenson & Cameron, Wallick, Frederick. It was added to the National Register Of Historic Places in 1994. The building is currently home to the Landmark Baptist College. It's easy for this building to grab attention as it towers over everything else around it and is visible for some distance. According to the college website the building has been refurbished. I have no idea what the inside is like but the outside looks like it could use more work and by someone with an eye for historic details. Overall it's in better shape than many other buildings of the same period that I've seen.

Andy's Drive In Restaurant - Winter Haven, Florida

703 3rd Street SW - I have many fond memories of Andy's. Andy's was where I had my first real cherry coke and many childhood evenings were spent at Andy's Igloo with a tasty ice cream treat. Anyway, the building itself isn't anything great but it does have a great neon sign. I should have popped back by in the daylight and gotten another picture but it didn't occur to me at the time (perhaps on my next trip).
