I have a love of all architecture but especially art deco and mid-century modern.

Stockman House - Mason City, Iowa
530 1st Street NE - The Stockman House was built in 1908. It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. For more information visit their website http://www.stockmanhouse.org/.
FLW was very interested in Japanese culture and many elements of his designs reflect this. In this house I think it's the wide eaves and low hip roof that give the effect. Well, maybe the colors as well which are reminiscent of a Shoji screen with the cream which would be the paper and the brown which would be the wood frame.
Does this house look somewhat Japanese to you?

ReplyDeleteYeah, I think the eaves and roof suggested Japan to me.
